Vision is the dominant sense

Vision dominates between people's senses. We register the most information through vision (orders of magnitude more than other senses).

Pattern recognition happens fastest through vision. (see Preattentive visual property)

Therefore vision is the most important sense to create understanding (because Understanding is about recognizing patterns. That's why most of external representations of things that we create are visual.
